From 9-12 September 2003, London’s ExCeL centre is once
again host to DSEi (Defence Systems Equipment
International). DSEi 2003 is a British government
sponsored arms fair. It will host buyers from all over
the world – including countries on Amnesty International’s
list of human rights abusers, and others who should be!
The arms trade, of which DSEi 2003 is an important part,
is an international political business made up of
multinational companies, which make products that kill and
maim for profit. These companies play a leading role in
the unjust global economic system, which causes poverty
and abuse of human rights around the world.
We must put an end to the sale of
death and destruction. We are urging people to BOYCOTT
EXCEL. ExCeL is the UK’s international, conference and
event centre for Europe and it is located on a 100 acre
site on the northern side of Royal Victoria Dock in
London’s Docklands. The venue comprises 90,000 sq. m of
modern exhibition, conference and event space located
between Canary Wharf and London City airport. As part of
this boycott, we are urging people to write to ExCeL
requesting that they not allow DSEi to go ahead. Contact
ExCeL, London Docklands, E16 1XL,
info@excel-london.co.uk or phone
on 020 7069 4000.
We are also asking people to write, phone, fax or email
the numerous exhibitors that are planning to use ExCeL
over the coming year, asking them to exhibit elsewhere
unless DSEi withdraws from the ExCeL centre. A full list
is available below.
