[Item added 10.08.2005] Sunday 28th August @ LARC, 62 Fieldgate St, Whitechapel, London (Nearest tubes: Whitechapel, Aldgate East) A day of discussion, skill sharing and hands-on workshops with an emphasis on affinity group actions. The morning will focus on the basics of affinity group actions; the how, why what, where and when. Find out how to form a small gorup and work together to take effective action. The afternoon will be an opportunity to explore some more specific tactics and how they have been used against DSEi, the world's largest arms fair. Information about DSEi 2005 will also be available to help you plan your action. Come and share skills with others: learn to hit them where it hurts! There may be police photographers outside the venue: please do not be intimidated. You might choose to wear a scarf in this warm weather. Proposed timetable: 10.30am Introductions 11 - 12 How affinity groups work, how to form them and consensus decision making 12 - 1.30 (1) Outline of some types of action including covert and smart actions (2) Legal Info - what happens when you get arrested and dealing with cops 1.30 - 2.30 Lunch and networking time - bring vegan food to share 2.30 - 3.30 (1) Accountable and unaccountable blockading techniques (2) Mass actions including padding and dearrest 3.30 - 4.30 (1) Security and surveillance for affinity group actions (2) Legal Briefing - inc stop and search, new legislation, what laws might be used at DSEi (3) Basic Medic and Activist Trauma Workshop 4.30 - 6pm Affinity group tactics for DSEi |

Offshore Europe 2005 6 - 9 September 2005 Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre, Scotland Organised by Spearhead Exhibitions, organisers of DSEi (Defence Systems and Equipment International), the world's largest arms fair, Offshore Europe promises to be "one of the most influential and significant events in the petroleum industry". In 2003 the exhibition was attended by 1400 exhibitors with visitors from 104 different countries including delegations from Azerbaijan and Venezuela. High profile visitors included the CEO from Shell EP Europe, Shell Nigeria, the Field Development Manager from BP and the Asset Managers from ChevronTexaco and ExxonMobil. Environmental destruction from the oil industry and death from the arms trade are two major causes of misery and despair across the globe. Spearhead Exhibitions are dealing in both. Shut down DSEi!
